The Dangers of Finger Nail Polish

A nail is simply a finger-like claw-like flat plate at the end of our fingers and toes. Nails are formed of collagen, a tough fibrous protein that is made by our bodies. Our nails are surrounded by a thin, brittle shield called the cuticle. The protective sheath is made up of a matrix of protein fibers called keratin. Our nails also contain elements that help our nails resist damage. Some people have beautiful, thick, full nails; others have ridged, brittle claws that are prone to breaking easily.

Sometimes people with both types of ‘nail types’ have no noticeable effect because they do not wear nail polish. For this group of us, having perfectly polished nails would be an advantage, because polished nails reflect light and stand out from other people’s imperfect ones. So, when we polish our nails, it will appear that we have perfect nails! However, some people have to wear nail polish, and for these people, the effect may be undesired.

nail polish and nails

When you put nail polish on your nails, the protein molecules attract each other and bind to the cuticle of each nail, forming a smooth, pink color. The nail polish does not cover the entire nail; it only covers the cuticle, leaving a white border around the pink color. By contrast, when the cuticle is exposed, a dull pink color forms. The reason for this is that the pink color is due to dead cells that are already part of the exfoliating process, and because of that, they are drawn into the pink color.

Because we never see our fingernails or toenails, it is hard to judge the effect fingernail and toenail polish has on them. The best way to judge their condition is by looking at the nail bed. If there are white spots on the bed of your nails, it is very likely that your fingernails are suffering from impurity. A visit to a nail salon or doctor is recommended to correct this problem.

Dry skin is another frequent problem, particularly on the lower legs and under the toes. While excessive dryness may cause discomfort and difficulty in walking, it can also be a serious health hazard. Because nails are exposed to air and moisture on a regular basis, they may cause fungal infections if kept too dry. If the nails are exposed to moisture too long, they may cause a yellowing or cracking effect on the nail surface. This problem may need a citation needed to be taken care of it.

Fingernail polish go hand in hand, but just because one looks like the other doesn’t mean they are the same thing. There are several different types of fingernail polishes out on the market today, including artificial fingernail options. These types of polish imitate the look of your fingernails perfectly, but are applied with a nail brush applicator (or with a single fingernail clipper). Applying nail polish is quite easy, but applying fingernail polish is a bit more involved. If you want to ensure the highest quality product possible, it is recommended that you get an applicator that has a double head so that you can apply twice the amount of polish on each finger.
